Tech PT 34 Pocket tester
Many years ago back in the 1960’s my Grandads Philco Radio model AE747 which had adorned his sideboard since my earliest memories went quiet.
So grandad and I went to work, first taking off the back and removing the chassis screws and probed around, I said to Grandad I couldn't fix it without a test meter to check the resistors and voltages on the valves
The next thing I remember was Grandad taking me up the town (West Bromwich) to visit Stan Willets shop
A little while and 39/6 later or £1.97 ½ in modern money.
I was the proud owner of a small Tech PT-34 multi tester at 1000 Ω per volt
I still own the original meter which now has a ruined movement when it kissed the floor measuring the battery voltage on a Ford Cortina at fast tick over, but I will never part with it
That little meter also went on to fix dads Ferranti 125 and other Radios too
Incidentally I still own Grandads Philco and Dads Ferranti radios and both still work

The meter pictured above is a replacement for that first multimeter, it was purchased from an on line Auction site and it works.
Its now firmly part of my collection
